The Programme will be implemented through capacity building measures as well as technical and financial assistance in close cooperation with municipalities Bihać, Bosanski Petrovac, City of East Sarajevo (Istočno Novo Sarajevo, Istočna Ilidža, Trnovo), Drinić / Petrovac, Gračanica, Kladanj, Neum, Petrovo, Rudo, Stolac and Višegrad. Democratic Economic Governance “Securing Access to Water through Institutional Development and Infrastructure” is a Programme supported through the Millennium Development Goals Achievement Fund funded by the Spanish government as a contribution to enhance the National ownership of the MDGs achievement, under the UN Reform framework.
Programme is organizing Inception Workshop at the last week of May where all selected municipalities will participate thus marking start up of the Programme in the field. The inception workshop will offer answers to the implementation modalities and adjustment of the Programme framework to the specifics of the selected municipalities.

In close cooperation with the partners at the state, entity and local level Programme will directly contribute to:
• Strengthening of citizens’ inclusion in the participative municipal governance of water access;
• Improvement of economic governance in water utility companies for better services to citizens in partner municipalities;
• Strengthening governments’ capacity for evidence-based policy making and resource planning for equitable water.

The MDG-F Programme Democratic Economic Governance of Water Access is jointly implemented by UNDP and UNICEF in partnership with the BiH Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations, BiH Ministry of Civil Affairs, the FBiH and RS Ministries of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Management, partner municipalities and their associated water utility companies, and civil society organizations.
