YERP Presented at Public Debate on Brain Gain

 

The event called Brain Gain – How to bring back and to keep experts in BiH was organized by Alumni Center for Interdisciplinary Postgraduate Studies (ACIPS) held on June 24th, 2010 in Sarajevo. It gathered representatives of around 20 institutions and organizations: BiH Ministry for Human Rights and Refugees, MDG-F Programme YERP, International Office for Migrations, University of Sarajevo, Youth Information Agency, Alumni of the Center for Interdisciplinary Postgraduate Studies and civil society organizations.


The event focused on Brain Gain from policy perspective with exchange of experiences between different local and international actors and presentation of best practices and initiatives than can help Bosnia and Herzegovina respond to the ongoing brain drain process.


MDG-F Youth Employability and Retention Programme (YERP) is a programme supported through the Millennium Development Goals Achievement Fund funded by the Spanish Government as a contribution to enhance the National ownership of the MDGs achievement, under the UN Reform framework. The Programme is jointly implemented by UNDP, UNICEF, UNFPA, IOM and UNV in partnership with the BiH Ministry of Civil Affairs, BiH Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees, Entity Ministries responsible for labor and education, BiH Agency for Statistics, Entity Agencies for Statistics, Public Employment Services offices across the country, primary and general secondary schools, municipalities and rural communities, individual firms as well as private sector associations, and civil society organizations from the community level to the Diaspora. This 3-year Programme, with an estimated budget of 6,000,000 USD, started in January 2010.
