In the Brazilian Amazon region of Alto Rio Solimões, where some 38,000 Indians live, a quarter of children suffer of diarrhea and nearly 20 percent require hospitalization at least once a year, mostly for gastrointestinal complications or tuberculosis. The MDG-F is working to improve nutrition and food security in indigenous communities.
